Dr. Shel
Board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) and doctor of nursing practice (DNP).

Dr. Shel Seaver is trained and licensed to prescribe medication and provide psychotherapy to treat complex psychiatric conditions. Her primary patient population includes adolescents and young adults, however she does accept adult patients from time to time.

Dr. Seaver views each of her patients holistically, as dynamic individuals with the capacity for growth and well-being. She aims to treat symptoms rather than disorders.  A thought pattern or behavior which might be manageable for one individual, could be debilitating for another. This is not a sign of weakness, as our culture often mistakingly conveys, but rather it shows how complex each individual is, with varying genetics and life experiences. When working with patients, she focuses on symptoms deemed problematic by the patient and directs treatment towards the patient’s perception of well-being.

Dr. Seaver’s work addressing stigma and mental illness has been published by the International OCD Foundation. She has served as a founding board member and past secretary of OCD Oregon, the Oregon affiliate of the International OCD Foundation. Additionally, since completing a fellowship in healthcare ethics in 2016, she has served on the Ethics Consultation Service at Randall Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Seaver education includes two Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and History from the University of Washington, a Bachelor of Nursing Science degree from Washington State University, and her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, also from Washington State University.
